Today marks one year of Sims Legacy Hub being public! I wanted to take this opportunity to write a letter to you all about the last year, the state of SLH, and our future.
TL;DR
It’s been a very busy year, and things are great. The update is almost done with a bunch of new features, and I’m scheming up new things for the Sims community. Also, discounts on subs?!
First, a brief recap of our past year. TheAwfulGaymer, PacificCreative, and I have been very busy outside of SLH; changes at TheAwfulGaymer’s company upended his schedule, and Pacific and I both started new full-time jobs that take up the majority of our time. We also moved, a process that took literal months (and is still not done). Earlier this year we convinced OodlesofNoodle_ to help us out with social media too, which has been a huge help.
In the impending update, we’ll be able to process discount codes and affiliate codes on subscriptions. Unfortunately I won’t be able to let everyone have an affiliate code, mainly because I have no idea of the tax implications of doing something like that. We will, however, be posting discount codes mostly on social media, likely around the holidays or Sims events.
Second, the state of Sims Legacy Hub. We’re still going strong, with lots of good things to look forward to. The response over the past year to SLH was more than we expected, or even had hoped. Our main goal was to sell enough subs to keep the servers online, which we totally did. You all have been more supportive than we could have hoped, and we’re very thankful. Hopefully we can continue to make something that Simmers can enjoy for a long, long time. Currently our only plans are to increase the features and capabilities of Sims Legacy Hub, not costs to you all.
Third, the future. I currently have a beta build of SLH being tested, which is probably 95% complete. I had hoped to get it out by today, but I simply did not have enough development time to finish it. I also have a bad problem with scope-creep when there’s a new feature I want to add. Here are a few things that will be in this update:
- Browsable gallery of public legacies
- New editor UI
- Increased legacy customization
- Updated content with newer DLC
- Potential for discount codes on subscriptions
- much more
Once the update is live, we’ll be making better help guides and tutorials, as well as updating our support ticketing system.
I have also drawn up plans for another site for Simmers, something more for the builder players out there. I haven’t broken ground on the project yet, because I would like to get the next SLH update out first.
